Young girl in group home finds loving family
The situation
A Belmont County Kinnect to Family (KTF) Specialist began working with a 13-year-old girl residing in a group home because her mother needed support and could not care for her. Recognizing that returning to her caregiver was not an option, the KTF Specialist worked closely with the young girl to identify individuals in her life who were meaningful to her.
The facilitation
The young girl shared her experiences of regularly attending a summer camp at her church, where she had formed a connection with a trusted and admired congregation member. With her input, the KTF Specialist contacted this family, who warmly expressed their willingness to welcome her into their home.
The outcome
The family embraced the young girl as a kinship placement, offering her a supportive and loving environment. The young girl was overjoyed to leave the group home and live with a family she cared about deeply and who cared for her just as much.
